Alice Murdoch was a famous British novelist,a philosopher and a novel theorist in the second half of the 20 th century.In addition to her literary creations,she also engaged in philosophical research and teaching.In addition to creating a large number of novels,she worked on scripts and poetry writing,and she made great achievements in literary criticism.She is a talented and outstanding woman in the British literary world.Murdoch's novels and philosophy have a strong sense of death,which reflects her deep thinking about death and deep concern for human destiny.This thesis attempts to explore the death concept of Murdoch's novels from the formation of Murdoch's death consciousness,the appearance of death theme,the expression of death image and the writing of death art.And it is suggested that only to be “unself”,one can get the true “love”,which is Murdoch's ultimate solution to death.This article is divided into four chapters.The introduction mainly introduces Murdoch's creation overview,research status at home and abroad,research purposes,significance and methods.The first chapter mainly introduces the formation of Murdoch's death consciousness,and explores the causes of Murdoch's death consciousness from five aspects: personal experience,social background,Plato's death consciousness,Sartre's death consciousness and Freud's death consciousness.The second chapter analyzes the specific content of Murdoch's death concept from the specific expressions of Platonic death theme,Sartre death theme and Freudian death theme,and explores the death consciousness in Murdoch's novels.The third chapter mainly discusses the death image of Murdoch's novels,from the two aspects of symbolic freehand and absurd death image.This kind of death image metaphorizes the death ending of the novel's protagonist.The fourth chapter discusses the artistic writing of Murdoch's novels from the aspects of facial expression,artistic text and narrative structure,and the image of death metaphorizes the death ending of the protagonist.The conclusion part summarizes the significance and influence of the death concept of Murdoch's novels,the influence of such death concept on the western literary world,and tries to find a solution from Murdoch's novels,that is,to remove the "self" to achieve true "love."...
