Investigation And Study Of New Words Since The New Period

2018 is the 40 th anniversary of Reform and Opening up.Over the past 40 years,great changes have taken place in Chinese society.According to the Covariance Theory of Language and Social Structure,when social life changes gradually or radically,language changes with the pace of social life.New words carry strong characteristics of the times and society and are barometers of social change.It is a very ingenious perspective to look at the changes in the past 40 years of reform and opening up with new words as the object of study.The record of new words dictionary is a strong evidence of linguistic phenomena.But for now,the research corpus in academic circles is small in scale and short in time span,and the investigation of new words in the new period is not macroscopic enough.In this paper,corpus linguistics is used to combine quantitative and qualitative analysis.Based on the New Words Dictionary(1978-2002)and the New Century New Words Dictionary(2000-2015),and supplemented the new media vocabulary published in China Language Life Report from 2015 to 2017,then a "New Period Word Corpus" with a time span of 40 years and a vocabulary capacity of 20,000 words has been established.The frequency of using new words is also searched on the People’s Internet.In order to investigate and analyze what social changes the new words have reflected in various fields of society since the reform and opening up 40 years ago,the number of new words has changed in the new period,and the standardized development of lettered words in the new period,in order to provide reference and supplement for the study of new words in the new period.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the Introduction,which introduces the background,study review,main methods and corpus.The review of the study is discussed in terms of the general features of new words,source,structure,individual and lexical families,sociolinguistics,dictionary compilation and standardization,and alphabetic words,and the shortcomings of the study in individual aspects are pointed out;The second part is the first chapter,which mainly introduces the new words reflecting some changes in the social field.The social fields in which the new words belong are mainly economy,life,social psychology,science and technology,politics,generality and military and so on.The proportion of new words varies from more to less in order.At the same time,in the use of new words,the distribution of new words in the social field can also be achieved by generating polysemy and frequency of use.It shows that the way of thinking and expression of language users have changed;The third part is the second chapter,which mainly surveyed the growth and decline of new words from the generation and stability of new words in the past 40 years,and makes an analysis and standardization attempt on new words which are not included in dictionaries and are not standardized.The generation of new words in the past 40 years has three relatively concentrated climaxes,and its stability basically takes about 20 years.Among the new words not included in the dictionary,life is the most,followed by social,political and economic fields.The main reasons for not being included are not satisfied with the principles of dictionary selection,and the disappearance or recession of new words in language use.From the new words of the year 2015-2017,we can see the key aspects of social development: first,the reform of political field;second,the development of science and technology in which the network is the leading role,combined with multi-fields,leading the economic development;The fourth part is the third chapter,which mainly investigates the inclusion and use of numeral alphabet words in new words.The fields of numeral alphabet words are mainly scientific and technological,and the active use of numeral alphabet words is mainly in the fields of science and technology and economy,followed by life.In the paper,the author puts forward specific criteria for the inclusion of numeral alphabetic words and makes an attempt to select them;The fifth part is the conclusion,which puts forward the problems to be further explored,and summarizes the significance and shortcomings of this study.
