The difference in status has a huge impact on individuals and society.In enterprises,there is a complex relationship between status and leadership,performance and group.Therefore,there are many studies on status in management theory.Most of these studies analyze which factors determine the level of status,and finally abstract two general determinants,namely,individual ability and warmth.In different cultural environments,the evaluation of the importance of the two factors influencing the status of the decision is different.There are many studies abroad that show that the influence of ability on status level is remarkable with the strengthening of individualism.The influence of warmth on status level is remarkable with the strengthening of collectivism.The research on the influence of cultural orientation on the determination of status factors is less in China.Chinese culture is considered to be a collectivist culture.Can these Western research results be established in the domestic cultural environment,and whether relevant theories can be applied to Chinese enterprises?In management,these are worth exploring.This article is to study the relationship between cultural orientation and decision status factors in the cultural context of China,and to analyze whether Western theories can be established in China and applied in China.Based on the mature paradigm of the relationship between foreign research culture orientation and decision status factors,this paper draws on the foreign mature scales measuring individualism,collectivism,ability and warmth,and designs questionnaires on this basis.This paper mainly studies the relationship between cultural orientation and decision status factors through three experiments.Experiment 1 In the context of Chinese culture,whether the correlation between cultural orientation and decision status factors can be established can be concluded,and the conclusion is that the cultural orientation of individualism is positively related to ability,and the correlation with warmth is not significant.The cultural orientation of collectivism and The warmth is positively correlated and the correlation with ability is not significant.This result indicates that the correlation between cultural orientation and decision status factors is established under the Chinese cultural background.In order to rule out the reverse causal relationship between the variables in Experiment 1,Experiment 2 was carried out in two populations of different cultural orientations.This part of Western scholars selected the subjects of Caucasian(individualist orientation)and Hispanic(collectivist orientation).In order to explore whether Western related theories can be established in practical jobs,the research object selected in this paper is IT.Technical post and community service post staff.Before starting the experiment,the subjects were measured for cultural orientation.The results showed that the employees of IT technology posts were individualistic cultural orientations,and the employees of community service posts were collectivist cultural orientations.The conclusions from the data analysis are that people with a high degree of individualism tend to seek status by demonstrating the behavior of the ability,and those with a high degree of collectivism are more inclined to seek status by engaging in behaviors that express warmth.This result shows that Western theories can be established in China’s jobs.In view of the fact that experiment 2 is the measurement of employees based on past behaviors,in order to strengthen the authenticity and practicality of the experimental conclusions,according to the foreign research paradigm,experiment 3 is set in a specific team task situation to further demonstrate the cultural orientation and decision status factors.The relationship is concluded as follows:members with high individualism in the team believe that the ability of teammates determines the acquisition of their status.Members with high degree of collectivism believe that the warmth of teammates determines the acquisition of their status.It further shows that Western related theories about cultural orientation to determine status factors can be applied in practical work.This paper applies three different research paradigms from abroad,conducts 3 different experiments,and collects a large amount of data.On this basis,it is found that the relevant research on the influence of cultural orientation and decision status factors in the West is established in the context of Chinese culture.And can be applied to the actual work. |
