Jia Pingwa,as one of the most important writers of the new era,has written 16 novels within 40 years. With his unique realistic writing of Shangzhou, hehas established apivotal position inthe literary world, making himself one of the leading figures of Shanxi literature and the representative writers of local literature as well. However, this constant writing is accompanied by a large number of repetitions between his works, and Jia Pingwa's creation has also been questioned. The repetition of the novel is inevitable. On the one hand, the repetition between Jia Pingwa's novels helped him to complete the construction of "hometown" and the writing of uniqueness.on the other hand,it also caused mechanical repetition in content and stagnation in thought, which made his works lack of depth.Based on the intensive reading of Jia Pingwa's novels and Hillis Miller's theory of repetition, this paper attempts to give a general classification and evaluation of the repetition phenomenons in different works of Jia Pingwa. There are three parts in this paper, which are the performance of repetition, the gain and loss of repetition and the reason of repetition. The first part makes a detailed classification and arrangement of the repetition phenomenon in Jia Pingwa's novels since the coming out of Shangzhou. It will summarizes into five types:the repetition of image, the repetition of story, the repetition of perspective, the repetition of theme and the repetition of details. The second part analyzes the gain and loss of repetition.Through repetition,Jia Pingwa can not only complete the construction of "Shangzhou",his spiritual hometown, but also solidify its unique writing characteristics of mysticism and further broaden the aesthetic implications of his works. But on the other hand,it's regrettable that the constant repetition of the theme of his works has also caused the self-deconstruction of his modernity thinking. The third part,on the basis of the first two parts, discusses the reasons for the phenomenon of repetition, which can be attributed to the writing position and writing resources. At the same time,it also makes it clear that Jia Jingwa's dilemma is the common challenge faced by the whole "post-50" local writers.
