"Degenerate Art":The Fate Of Modern Art In Nazi Germany

In Nazi Germany,modern art was thoroughly rejected.Modern art was labeled "degenerate",and therefore being "purified" from the society.All the artists were under Nazi's national dictatorship.Many flew from the country,others suffered even more.Of all Nazi's cruel attacks on modern art,the 1937 Munich "Denerate Art" exhibition was a most representative case.This article intends to write about the "Degenerate Art" exhibition in its complexed hitorical background,including the origin of the concept of "degenerate art ",the development of art dictatorship in Nazi germany,and the "Great German Art" exhibition t as a counterpart.In this way,the article intends to reveal the reasons of Nazi's attack on modernism,and also to depict the fate of modern art in Nazi Germany.
