| With the flourishing of Chinese culture and art,choral music has gradually become one of the important components of the art and cultural market in China today.Chinese university choruses have become a mainstay of choruses in China.Beiyang Chorus,a university choral group based in Tianjin University and mostly made up of non-music majors,is one of the leading university choral groups in China.The members of Beiyang Chorus are largely non-music majors,but they can compete with other professional chorus groups on the world stage and have achieved remarkable successes.As an outstanding representative of a Chinese university students’ choral group,Beiyang Chorus shines on the world stage.Thus,there is great practical significance in studying the training of Beiyang Chorus.This thesis takes the training of the freshmen members of Beiyang Chorus as its research object,from the training methods used for singing(e.g.breathing,timbre,intonation,etc.),combined with the process of individual chorus members’ vocal assignation and team cooperation in singing.It also studies the overall sound of Beiyang Chorus in order to summarize the unique methods used to train its members,draws some insights regarding changes in its sound,makes comments and suggestions regarding the training of university choruses in the new era,and thereby contributing to its development.The thesis discussion proceeds in five parts.The first part focuses on the development and current state of university choruses in China and assesses the level of Beiyang Chorus against this backdrop.The second part focuses on the training of new chorus members of Beiyang Chorus;it analyzes and discusses the solutions to the problems of training of new members,and summarizes and refines the process and methods of training both the new and the more senior members of the chorus.The third part focuses on the overall acoustical sound of the Chorus,with an in-depth analysis of how it rehearses various types and styles of choral compositions and molds its sound.The fourth part analyzes a choral work from the Renaissance period《April is in my mistress face》,focusing on the stylistic characteristics which need to be grasped in performing such a piece and suggesting solutions on how to do so.The fifth part summarizes the Beiyang Chorus’ successes. |
