Sculptural Studies Of Modigliani’s Figure Paintings

Master artists gathered in Paris the 20 th century,brilliant Picasso,the passionate Chaim Soutine,romantic Chagall and also Modigliani.From the life of Modigliani,in order to analyze his personal experience and the gradual changeof painting style,the tragic love story of the subsequent death of Jeanne made life of Modigliani more mysterious.The ritual wood carving in Africa in the 19 th century attracted the attention of French artists,who were inspired by the new mystical African art.Modigliani’s carvings and paintings have a strong flavor of African wood carvings.Due to physical reasons,they failed to continue the carvings and transform into paintings.The value of Modigliani’s reputation in the 21 st century has soared and his influence has gone global.This paper probes into the artistic process of Modigliani step by step,compares his early and late works,his sculpture works and African sculpture,and analyzes the giant masters who influenced him with their works.In this paper,Modigliani’s dual artistic identity(i.e.sculptor and painter)is explored between sculpture and painting.
