The Psychological Connotation Of Fish Image In Tang Poetry

Fish image refers to the symbolic psychological picture with image of fish.To explore the psychological connotation of fish image,enrich the research achievements of primitive images,dig its value in the practical application of psychology,the research uses content analysis method,selects 586 poems containing fish image from Tang poems,and all images contained were extracted,determines the characteristics of images,summarizes thematic dimensions,and psychological connotations of fish image were finally determined.The results show that the fish image has 25 thematic dimensions,which are Dynamic,Hard,Divine,Refreshing,Leisurely,Cold,Sad,Night,Decline,Autumn,Distance,Spring,Rich,Quantity,Tasty,Broad,Elegance,Relation,Bright,High,Light,Huge,Wet,Fragrant and Deep.Then summarize the psychological connotations of fish image:1.Vitality includes Dynamic,Spring,Wet and briskness in Light characteristic,it refers to libido and creativity;2.Introspection includes Refreshing,Cold,Night and Bright,it is an inner sensibility and perception.3.Nourishment includes Leisurely,Distance,Elegance,Fragrant and Deep,it is an active psychological adjustment,individuals return to nature and feel supported and nourished.4.Strength includes Hard,Huge and Height,it refers to the perseverance to achieve goals and the courage to face setbacks.5.Belongingness includes Autumn,Tasty,Relation and wandering in Light characteristic,it refers to the psychological need for interpersonal connection,understanding and acceptance.6.Divinity refers to the two developmental stages of narcissistic libido,the primitive stage is embodied in the idealized object,which endows something outside with magical ability,the mature stage is embodied in the individual being able to judge his own ability objectively,achieving his goals and realizing value.7.Abundance includes Rich and Quantity,referring to the need to meet physiological needs.8.Catharsis is a means of emotion releasing,catharsis with perceiving can relieve stress.9.Sadness is an emotional characteristic,including Sad and Decline,which is not only a basic emotion,but also can play the role of empathy for others.In the discussion,combined with the psychological connotations of fish image,we discuss the possible value of fish image in expressive therapy.It further summarizes the psychological connotations of three specific fish images:whale image,carp image and perch image,and compares their similarities and differences.
