Research On The Protection And Utilization Of Kunming Meter-gage Railway As The Linear Cultural Heritage

Railway heritage is the product of the modern industrial revolution which has an important impact on the development of human culture and economic trade as a typical linear cultural heritage.As an important form of cultural heritage,linear cultural heritage is a large and comprehensive linear heritage area in essence,which contains canals,railways and roads as the main body,connects the important heritage nodes in the region along the route,and jointly forms a larger heritage corridor space covering the region.Linear cultural heritage represents a method of holistic evaluation and utilization of regional cultural heritage,meeting the coordinated development needs of integrating the cultural heritage into a whole.The integrated protection and development of canals,railways and other forms of linear culture heritage integrated into modern urban civilization and civic life is a practice of many foreign cities using linear cultural heritage.With more attention to the research of linear cultural heritage both home and abroad,our country's management of linear cultural heritage lacks effective evaluation standards and experience with our national conditions,which provides the necessity in the theory and reality to explore the protection and development of linear cultural heritage.Kunming meter-gage railway is composed of the Yunnan-Vietnam railway and the Yunnan-Myanmar railway,the main part of which has a history of one hundred years.As an important cultural heritage resource of Kunming,Kunming meter-gage railway needs to be protected and integrated into the urban development.This paper takes Kunming meter-gage railway as the research object based on the field investigation along the railway line,forms the general situation of Kunming meter-gage railway preservation and the detailed introduction of its core,extend the coverage of cultural heritage resources,and discusses the historical,cultural,artistic,tourism and other multi-value characteristics of Kunming meter-gage railway as the linear cultural heritage.Through the special investigation,interview and some the field surveys,this paper analyzes the difficulties to define the culture relics of Kunming meter-gage railway,the conflicting attitude toward the value of Kunming meter-gage railway under the division of system between railway administration and government.On this basis,explore the complex problem of Kunming meter-gage railway cultural heritage preservation condition,the difficulties of the social capital to enter the meter-gage railway.Those problems form the obstacles of meter-gage railway's development and protection.Based on this,it is proposed the thinking which can realize the integration of Kunming meter-gage railway into the overall pattern of Kunming urban development,such as the railway administration and government should combine the forces of the two sides,combine the means of public service and cultural industry transformation,promote community participate in the protection of Kunming meter-gage railway,and promote the overall utilization of cultural heritage nodes along the route through the corridor effect of Kunming meter-gage railway.
