Research On The "Cartoonization" Features Of Philip Guston's Paintings

Philip Guston as a representative of the new expressionist paintings.In the late 1960 s,Guston's paintings returned from abstraction to figuration.In his later artistic career,he created a lot of carton images with humor and irony.The cartoon image of Guston has a distinct personal character and artistic sentiment,which expresses the self-life outlook and reflects the unique insights into the social and political culture at that time.This paper aims to analyze the formation and performance of the "cartoonization" feature in Philip Guston's paintings.The article is divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of the formation and development of Guston's cartoon characters.The second part explains the plot in the cartoon character of Guston's paintings and analyzes it with its representative works.The third part analyzes the symbolic and cultural connotations in the cartoon image from different perspectives of society and individuals.The last part analyzes the characteristics of popular culture contained in Guston's paintings and the influence of expressions and plots in the painting on the creation and innovation of contemporary art.
