A Report On The Translation Of Feminism And War Under The Guidance Of Functional Equivalence Theory

Since 1980 s,especially after the Cold War,international society has developed into a new phase.Global governance and regional governance have become new topics of international relations.International relation theories,such as realism theory,cannot explain many new phenomena and new problems.More and more minor theories have been liberated to give a new explanation to a wide range of more diversified international political phenomena.Meantime,feminism has emerged as a critical theory.This collection grew out of the Feminism and War Conference held on 19 th to21th October 2006,in Syracuse,New York,USA.The editors of Feminism and War have brought together a diverse set of leading theorists and activists who study the issues raised in American military initiatives.In the time of advocating women's liberation and gender equality,the translator hopes that people can have a deeper understanding of the current popular feminism through this translation.The book belongs to the political text with its own unique writing style,which involves many fields that are not commonly used in daily life.The overall professionalism is very strong.As the collection was written by many different writers,the individual style of each article is obvious.The translator needs to adapt to the translation style of each writer,which is a big challenge.After considering the various factors,knowing the writing background and authors,as well as the characteristics of the text,the translator decides to translate the first two parts.The main body of this report includes the preparation work,difficulties and challenges encountered in the translation process on the basis of understanding and searching for the writing background,characteristics and style of the text.Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence theory,the translator summarizes several typical problems in the process of translation from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse,and analyzes the translation methods of dashes,ellipsis and so on.Then she puts forward the corresponding strategies,trying to put the theory into the translation very well.
