Textbooks play an important role in Chinese language teaching,especially in overseas Chinese teaching.While Chinese teaching is developing rapidly in Thailand,there are loopholes in many aspects of Chinese teaching.The problems in Chinese textbooks need to be solved urgently.During the period of my teaching in Thailand,I found may have some problems in Thai's Chinese textbooks.For example,the difficulty of the textbooks is too large and deviates from the actual learning situation of the students;the progress of the textbooks does not take into account the Chinese language curriculum of vocational schools;there are some errors in knowledge;there is no perfect teaching material system,the teaching materials are not systematic;the use of Thai is too much for explanation in the writing process;the teaching materials are too much emphasis on language teaching,lack of interest and so on.However,because there are five major education committees in Thailand,there are differences in the selection of teaching materials between the various education committees.Therefore,this paper focuses on the Chinese textbooks of the Vocational Education Committee.The author selects the first book of Chinese for Communication and Experiencing Chinese series of textbooks for comparative analysis,sums up the advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks and puts forward their own opinions,in order to provide some suggestions for the localization of Thai Chinese textbooks.First of all,this paper expounds the reason and significance of the topic selection,the purpose and significance of the research,and the research object and method,and the study of Chinese as a foreign language.And the status quo of Chinese textbooks in Thailand was elaborated.Then,it briefly expounds the theoretical knowledge involved in the process of comparative analysis of textbooks,such as the theory of textbook writing and selection,the principle of combining structure,function and culture,the principle of student-centered,and the principle of skill training.Then,this paper selects two Chinese textbooks,Chinese for Communication 1 and Experience Chinese(Basic Tutorial 1 Thai version),which are currently used in Thai vocational schools,to study the research objects,and briefly explain the background of the selection of the two textbooks.And from the six aspects of textbook writing and design principles,topic selection,vocabulary grammar setting,text setting,cultural content setting and post-class practice editing,Chinese for Communication 1 and Experience Chinese(Basic Tutorial 1 Thai version),combined with the results of the comparison and the students' feedback and teachers' experience,the conclusion that Chinese for Communication 1 is more suitable for use in the Chinese classroom of vocational schools is obtained.After that,through the result of contrastive Analysis about Chinese for Communication and Experience Chinese,the paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks.Based on these shortcomings,and based on the pertinence of textbooks,the adaptability of textbooks and learners,the level of textbook writing,and the content of textbooks,some suggestions for improvement of localization of Thai Chinese textbooks are given.Finally,summarize the author's point of view.The question raised here is only to hope that it will provide some help for the selection of Chinese textbooks and the preparation of textbooks in future vocational schools.
