| The Grass Is Singing is a signature work written by a Nobel Prize winner,Doris Lessing. The novel was published in 1950 and instantly caused a global sensation.Wang Keyi,a famous Chinese translator, translated the novel in 1956.So did his daughter Wang Lei in 1999.Although studies on The Grass Is Singing are multifaceted, there are still few studies on its translation. The thesis tries to analyze the influence of translational environment on translation action from linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension. After study it is found that what causes their differences mostly lies in different political environment and ideologies. It is proved that the impact of translational eco-environment is inevitable. So translators should make adaptable selection to keep the translated text faithful to the source text. The thesis consists of 4 chapters with eco-translatology as the theoretical basis. As a newly-established theory, the eco-translatology defines translation as "the selection and adaptation by the translator to:fit the translational eco-environment".Dif-ferent from previous translational criticisms, the eco-translatology is abstract analogue between ecological mechanism and translation activities.Young and unfledged as it is,eco-translatology has strong explanatory power for the influence of-translational eco-environment on translators during translation.Under the guidance of eco-translatology,the thesis aims to explore and study the translational eco-environment and the texts of the two Chinese versions of The Grass Is Singing under the guidance of eco-translatology and hope to make subconscious efforts to the study of Chinese translation of The Gra.ss Is Singing. |
