| Huang Zi has made important contributions to the development of Chinese art songs,and his choral works also have a far-reaching influence in the history of Chinese music.Through the analysis and research of two choral works by Huang Zi ——namely,The AntiJapanese Song and The Flag is Fluttering — — and the related study of the conducting techniques they require given the characteristics of his choral compositions,this thesis attempts to analyze the corresponding factors from melody,form,intonation of the lyrics,piano accompaniment and related music elements,as well as the techniques required to conduct them in order to demonstrate the musical content of these two works and to provide a theoretical reference for performers.This study mainly focuses on the following three aspects:Firstly,a summary of Huang Zi and his choral works.This thesis discusses Huang Zi’s life,artistic experiences and choral works and briefly introduces the background behind the composition of his two choral works,The Anti-Japanese Song and The Flag is Fluttering.Secondly,the analysis of the musical imagery of these two choral works in order to further carry out a detailed analysis of their form,lyrics and their pronunciation,and so on.Thirdly,the analysis of the conducting techniques for these two choral works in terms of rhythm,tempo,volume and dynamics,and to summarize the conducting style and techniques they require.Through this thesis,the author hopes to attract more scholars’ attention toward the study of the conducting techniques and methods of Huang Zi’s choral works.It probes how to more correctly recreate the thoughts and feelings that the author wants to express in his works and thereby express their spirit and atmosphere to the audience through their recreation by the conductor.It is hoped that this article can help other researchers and make Huang Zi’s choral works more well-known. |
