The difference between descriptive cognition and evaluative cognition is a hot issue in contemporary cognitive theory.Descriptive cognition and evaluative cognition have different behaviors and neural mechanisms.Compared with descriptive cognition, evaluative cognition more reflects the subjective value of the individual.Descriptive cognition mainly represents the individual’s judgment on the cognitive dimension of things, while evaluative cognition represents the individual’s judgment on the aesthetic dimension of things. There is evidence that there are significant individual differences in the processing of cognitive dimensions and aesthetic dimensions, and real life experience suggests that art experience is closely related to individual cognition and aesthetic processing. So,does art experience affect individual evaluative cognition(aesthetic dimension)and descriptive cognition(cognitive dimension)? If the artistic experience has an impact, what is the impact of the Eye movement rules and characteristics? Is this effect also reflected in real product perception? This paper intends to examine the above issues through two studies. The existing research mainly uses aesthetic judgment as the evaluation cognitive task, and uses symmetry judgment as the descriptive cognitive task. Therefore, this thesis uses the two tasks of aesthetic judgment and symmetry judgment to examine the influence of artistic experience on aesthetic and cognitive dimension processing. In the first study, the abstract geometry is used as the experimental material. From the perspective of basic research, the influence of artistic experience on the aesthetic and cognitive dimension processing and its Eye movement rules are investigated. The study included three experiments(Experiment 1a,Experiment 1b and Experiment 2).Experiment 1a comprehensively uses the aesthetic evaluation and symmetry judgment tasks to examine the behavioral characteristics of individuals with different artistic experiences on the aesthetic and cognitive dimension processing of abstract geometric figures.Experiment 1b further explores the impact of different levels of artistic experience on the aesthetic and cognitive dimension processing of complex asymmetric abstract black and white geometric figures.Experiment 2 uses eye tracking technology to observe several indicators such as fixation count, fixation time, pupil diameter, and eye movement heat map,in order to examine the Eye movement rules of the influence of artistic experience on the aesthetic dimension and cognitive dimension processing of geometric figures. The aim is to identify whether there are differences in the visual processing strategies of individuals with different artistic experiences in two dimensions. On the basis of the research one,the research two takes the real interface icon as the experimental material, and from the perspective of application promotion, examines the influence of art experience on the processing of the individual’s aesthetic dimension and cognitive dimension and its Eye movement rules, including An experiment(Experiment 3).The results of the two studies show that:(1)in the processing of aesthetic dimensions, experienced people prefer asymmetric visual stimuli compared with inexperienced ones;(2)influence of artistic experience in the processing of cognitive dimensions will change with the degree of abstraction of visual stimuli, which means that the evaluation of actual products may be different from the evaluation of abstract graphics;(3)in the processing of aesthetic and cognitive dimensions, experienced people are specific to complex visual stimuli;(4)In the processing of aesthetic and cognitive dimensions, experienced people adopt a centralized and comprehensive visual processing strategy, while those without experience adopt a partial processing strategy. In summary, this study explores the behavior and Eye movement characteristics of the influence of artistic experience on aesthetic and cognitive dimension processing. The results of this study are theoretically helpful in understanding the basic laws and characteristics of the influence of artistic experience on the aesthetic dimension and cognitive dimension processing of individuals, complementing the research in this field, enriching the research conclusions, and furthering the future.Research provides important theoretical value;in practical applications,it provides valuable theoretical references and feasible design concepts for related design fields such as icons, interfaces, and web pages.
