A Dog's Purpose is the representative work of American writer Bruce Cameron,mainly tells the story of a dog who goes through four generations of reincarnation and pursues the meaning of life.The novel presents a beautiful picture of the harmonious coexistence between humans and animals.At the same time,it also reveals the cruel behaviors of humans,such as sterilization,artificial reproduction and euthanasia.This paper takes the purpose of a dog as the research object and combines the relevant theories of derrida,Peter singer and Keith Thomas to conduct an ethical analysis of the living conditions of animals and people's attitudes towards animals in the works,so that the society can more correctly understand the relationship between humans and animals.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction part mainly introduces the content of the work,relevant research status and the origin and ideas of this paper.By analyzing the racial fate of animals through the dog-abuse behaviors in the works,the author guides the public to redefine the identity of animals from the perspective of "others",and explains the essence and significance of "animal liberation".The first chapter of this paper mainly expounds human's violation of natural nature such as animal birth and death from the perspective of human and nature.Through the sterilization and euthanasia of toby and bailey,it reveals human's harm to animal natural life.Chapter two discusses the social relationship between humans and animals.Through the unfair treatment of elia and bear in human society,it reveals the inequality between the contribution of animals in human society and their social status.The third chapter discusses the salvation and change of human beings and puts forward the possibility of bringing good news to the survival of animals in modern society.It is pointed out that bailey's pursuit of owner's reincarnation in the novel shows the kindness and truth of animals,and human beings should treat animals with the same attitude,so as to re-understand the meaning and value of animals,and show the dignity of life.Based on the analysis of the main body,this paper draws the following conclusions: the causes of the difficult situation of animals come from two aspects,one is the aphasia of animals,the other is the root of human centrism.Therefore,human beings should re-understand the meaning and value of the existence of animals from the perspective of "others",treat animals as equal living individuals,take care of their real life experience and emotional needs,conform to their natural nature,and respect their right to survival.
