A Discussion About Characterization Of The Role "ZHANG RAN" In The Musical "The Fatal Coffee"

As a rising art form in China,musical with it's characteristic of combining classical elegance and modern popular,are gradually being recognized and loved by more people.The early concept of musical are start from “the classic four plays”.But in recent years,a large number of musicals have been developed and introduced in Shanghai,Beijing,Guangdong and other places.In this vast market,more and more thematic musicals are being created.Musicals which fit well with the Chinese culture and current themes are appreciated and accepted in the theater.“The Lethal coffee” is a musical about drug prohibition produced by Shanghai encore art group.It is touring all over China in recent years.This paper analyzes the leading character of “Lethal coffee”,Zhangran,from the aspects of singing,lines and performance details.The first part is about the thematic significance of this musical and the introduction of the creating team,the general plot and the relationships between the characters.The second part discusses the variety of Zhangran's voice while he is singing,and the different state and skill for different life period of this character.The third part analyzes the processing and performance of this character's line.As the actor of this character,the author give the conclusion of exploring the way of shaping characters in musical base on his own experience of performing this musical.
