Discussion On Converging Trend Between Folk Style Singing And Belcanto In Vocal Teaching

A folk style singing should have meanings of two levels: one refers to “local” singing which is created by Chinese and inherited for generations.The singing did not refer to training or shaping of foreign skills,such as singing methods of folk songs,rap and opera in traditional Chinese music.The other is a folk style singing represented by the art of the professional national vocal of China and formed by referring to and absorbing the singing theories and advantages of Bel canto on the basis of inheriting and carrying forward the artistic essence and features of traditional singing like folk songs,ballad and opera etc.Converging folk style singing and Bel canto is one of the developing trends of contemporary vocal art of China.Under the developing trend,domestic experts and scholars also proposed the view of protecting,inheriting and developing national vocal culture.With vocal teaching as an entry point,this paper surveyed current situations of a university in the aspects of vocal teaching’s curriculum setting,teachers,selected songs of textbooks and teaching modes etc.,analyzed the reasons and influence of converging the folk style singing and Bel canto and proposed its views on influence of “converging”.This paper mainly includes contents of five parts.The part of introduction mainly introduces the research background and significance and summarizes the analysis on current research,innovative points of the research,research methods and definition of related concepts.The main body is divided into four parts.Part 1 is concerned about development and current situation of the folk style singing and Bel canto in China.Part 2 is about survey and analysis based on current vocal teaching of the university.Part 3 refers to analysis of causes to converging of the folk style singing and Bel canto in vocal teaching.Part 4 is the influence and thinking about “converging trend” in vocal teaching.
