Idioms are a bright pearl in Chinese culture.They represent the essence of Chinese language and culture for thousands of years.Idiom teaching plays a very important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.It runs through all stages of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,especially in the middle and advanced stages.The effect of idiom acquisition has a great influence on the improvement of Chinese proficiency of foreign students.After investigation found that the way students learn idioms mainly through the explanations of the teachers in class and teaching material study,but the students merely to learn idioms by teaching material and teacher's explanation is not enough,they will use some tools to assist in the idiom learning,such as print or electronic idiom dictionary,a mobile phone APP software,etc.These commonly used tools are beneficial to classroom teaching,and also provide great help for international students to learn Chinese idioms.After class,international students can use these tools to inquire the idioms they do not understand at any time and learn independently,which to a certain extent brings great convenience for international students to learn idioms.However,these tools in the use of the process have some disadvantages,such as the paper version of the dictionary is inconvenient to carry;The electronic dictionary of Chinese idioms is not complete,and the definitions are not enough.Mobile phone APP software does not have authority,function is not comprehensive and so on.These problems will not only bring inconvenience to the study of foreign students,but also may lead to the effect of foreign students learning idioms is not good,or even mislead them in the process of using bias.This paper is divided into four chapters:Chapter one is about the investigation on the use of idiom learning tools for international students.This paper investigates the use and demand of idiom learning tools commonly used by overseas students in guangxi university for nationalities,guangxi medical university andguangxi normal university for nationalities.The results show that international students generally agree that dictionaries play an auxiliary role in the study of idioms.Dictionaries have the highest usage rate,and mobile dictionaries are most favored by learners.The usage rate and selection rate of mobile dictionaries are much higher than that of paper dictionaries,showing a one-sided tendency.The second chapter analyzes the foreign students' demand for idiom learning tools and its influencing factors.According to the results of the questionnaire survey,foreign students have a certain demand for tools for idiom learning,but the demand for electronic learning tools is large,while the demand for paper learning tools is low,showing a serious imbalance.This paper analyzes the situation and draws the following conclusions,which are related to the objective factors of the advantages and disadvantages of learning tools.In addition,the students' own subjective factors also affect the demand for different learning tools,including the differences in the students' country,Chinese proficiency and gender.In the third chapter,the author discusses the problems and gives some Suggestions.The existing problems of Chinese learning tools for foreign students are not targeted,there is no paper dictionary or mobile dictionary for foreign students to learn idioms.The author gives some Suggestions to learners,TCFL teachers and lexicography.The fourth chapter is about the idea of designing a mobile APP specifically for overseas students to learn idioms.Based on the analysis of the problems existing in several idiom apps used by native Chinese learners,such as simple interface,too many advertisements and no corresponding exercises,this paper puts forward some ideas from the aspects of idiom collection and selection,software functions and fees.It is hoped that this study will enlighten those engaged in Chinese language teaching in the future,provide convenience for international students to learn and help them learn Chinese idioms better at the same time.
