| Xia Yan,one of the unique characters in Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literary,has made great contributions to many areas,especially to the prosperity and development of Chinese drama.Most of Xia Yan’s plays mainly focus on real life.He is good at capturing common things and daily life scenes in his works,and then refine,break and remark the material to express the theme accurately and effectively.Xia Yan has formed a unique style of his own in the content and art.Some of his dramatic works fully practice Chekhov’s theory of "theatrical life".In Xia Yan’s plays,he intentionally portrays ordinary life events instead of focusing on central conflicting events.Moreover,his works focus on the naturalness and fragmentation of daily life,rather than emphasize the coherence and integrity of events.As a new theoretical paradigm,the critique theory of everyday life has been gradually accepted by domestic scholars.This theory has been widely used and has a great influence not only in the fields of philosophy and sociology,but also in the field of literature studies.Therefore,this paper will take the daily life in Xia Yan’s drama as the object,the daily life study as theoretical tool,by making a thorough analysis of his dramas as Biography of Qiu Jin,Fascist Bacteria,The End of the Grass,under the eaves of Shanghai,the corner of the metropolis and so on,then clarify the transformation of modern Chinese from painful struggle to metamorphosis in their ordinary and trivial everyday life.The structure of this paper can be divided into five parts.First,in the introduction part,the research status of Xia Yan’s drama and the critique theory of everyday life at home and abroad will be analyzed.In the following,the origin of the topic and theoretical framework of this paper will be elaborated.Finally,the logic and structure of this paper will be briefly summarized.In the first chapter,I will mainly analyze people’s anxiety in daily life and their transcendence in Xia Yan’s plays.In this part,I will take Biography of Qiu Jin as an example to show Xia Yan’s criticismof traditional daily life,and uses Fascist Bacteria and The End of the Grass to show intellectuals’ time anxiety in daily life.Chapter two will mainly analyze the daily poetry and resistance in Xia Yan’s plays.In this part,I will elaborate the strategies and tactics of daily life and resistance in urban space by analyzing two works,under the eaves of Shanghai and the corner of the metropolis.The third chapter will mainly elaborate the profound implication in the description of daily life in Xia Yan’s plays.By analyzing the construction of modernity in Xia Yan’s plays and the identification with the nation-state,I will show the pursuit of a stable community in the unstable daily life of the modern Chinese people at that time,and then shows the self-affirmation and transformation of the modern Chinese people after their painful struggle. |
