Since the 1980 s,Chinese contemporary art has undergone a long and ups and downs of development.From the structure of traditional Chinese artistic language to its gradual deconstruction,from its disintegration under the influence of foreign cultures to its return and reconstruction,contemporary Chinese art is now facing the dual task of absorbing the connotation of traditional culture and accepting contemporary artistic language.After a long period of collision and integration between Chinese and Western cultures,the development of Chinese contemporary art should be based on its social and cultural context to explore new forms of artistic language.Gu Wenda's forward-looking and pioneering artistic creation has always led the art trend.Gu Wenda's works annotate the artist's concern about contemporary social culture and the present situation of human existence.Through his years of creative experience,Gu Wenda has created a pop art style of contemporary Chinese art that challenges traditional ink and wash.Based on Gu Wenda's nearly 40 years of experimental ink and wash creation process,this paper combines Gu Wenda's contemporary works of art to analyze the cultural connotation of experimental ink and the change of artists' cultural identity after they emigrate overseas.Furthermore,it explores Gu Wenda's creative process and the phenomenon of "returning to the source" with Chinese artists who emigrated overseasin the same period.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is a comprehensive exposition of Gu Wenda's creative process and the current situation and significance of Gu Wenda's experimental ink research.Chapter two summarizes Gu Wenda's creative process from the 1980 s to the present,and elaborates the development process of Chinese contemporary art after the Eighth Five-Year Art Trend,combining with the background of Gu Wenda's experimental art and his continuous innovation of experimental ink and wash.Further innovation in materials and concepts of experimental ink and wash.Gu Wenda thinks about national culture and racial concept with new media.Chapter three analyses Gu Wenda's creative changes after he emigrated overseas,and observes his cultural return to the traditional culture of the nation and the change of artists' cultural consciousness.Chapter IV,with Gu Wenda as the representative,discusses the exploration and influence of overseas Chinese artists on the revival of national culture in the context of globalization and growing national strength.
