Agricultural Geography Of Shiyang River Basin In Qing Dynasty

The Shiyang River Basin is located at the eastern end of the Hexi Corridor and is one of the three inland rivers in the Hexi Corridor.The development of the basin agriculture is closely related to the Shiyang River.In order to consolidate the border defense and develop the basin economy in the Qing Dynasty,large-scale immigration and abandonment activities have emerged,which have had a profound impact on the development of various aspects of the basin.Based on historical literature,local chronicles and genealogical data,this paper studies the factors affecting agricultural development in this area,agricultural production methods and the impact of agricultural development.First,by studying the natural and social basis of agricultural development in the Shiyang River Basin,it is concluded that the Shiyang River Basin is the largest oasis unit in the eastern part of the Hexi Corridor;the plain area in the basin is flat,and the land is fertile and suitable for agricultural development;the water surface of the basin The area is gradually shrinking,and the area of ??oasis is expanding day by day;agricultural water is mainly derived from the melting of snow and ice in the Qilian Mountains in the south;climate drought is not conducive to the development of agriculture;the proportion of suitable agricultural land is not high,and the oasis has suitable soil for cultivation.In the Western Han Dynasty,the Shiyang River Basin was under the jurisdiction of the Central Dynasty and developed agricultural production.The Qing Dynasty still attached importance to the development of the district and carried out effective management and development of agriculture in the region.Second,by studying the influence of natural geographical features on regional agricultural development,it is concluded that the geographical environment of the Shiyang River Basin in the Qing Dynasty affected the construction of local agricultural farming systems,farming methods,agricultural time arrangements,crop varieties and water conservancy facilities;the development of crop technology,The improvement of agricultural production tools and the construction of water conservancy facilities have greatly promoted the development of the basin agricultural economy.Third,by studying the immigration colonization of the Shiyang River Basin in the QingDynasty,it is concluded that the military cause is the primary cause of migration,and the economy and population are also important factors that cannot be ignored.The migration methods mainly include official organizations and private spontaneous development;The development of farmland water conservancy,commercial trade,urban construction and culture in the basin.Fourth,the agricultural development of the Shiyang River Basin in the Qing Dynasty will inevitably affect the local environment.The damage to the environment is mainly manifested in the destruction of natural vegetation,serious desertification,and frequent natural disasters.
