With the rapid development of society and science and technology,great changes have taken place in art forms,and sculpture has also ushered in unprecedented opportunities for development.More and more subjects are integrated into the creation of sculpture,and more and more material forms bring endless possibilities for the performance of sculpture.Different from the traditional forms of sculpture materials,modern materials are more flexible,more direct,more diverse and more modern.In this pluralistic era,the relationship between the use of materials and the public environment in public sculpture is particularly important.The expression of a sculpture material plays a vital role in creating the emotional space atmosphere of sculpture,and the fit between sculpture and the surrounding environment.It can not be generalized only that material is regarded as a carrier of material expression,so we should be good at actively exploring new attributes and characteristics of materials.This paper does not simply discuss the relationship between public sculpture and environment,but derives the influence of material selection on the relationship between public sculpture and environment.Whether the material is used correctly or not has a great impact on the role of public sculpture in the environment.In this paper,starting from the concept and characteristics of materials,the relationship between public sculpture and environment is discussed,and the influencing factors of public sculpture material selection are explored.Later,through examples and creative practice to analyze and elaborate the significance of sculpture material selection.
