| This translation project is a part of the research made by the translator’s supervisor on higher education policies and regulations of countries that have participated in the "Belt and Road" initiative,which is a key program supported by China Association of Higher Education during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period.The source text is ACT No.111 Coll.on Higher Education Institutions of 22 April 1998 and on Amendments and Supplements to Some Other Acts,that is,The Higher Education Act of the Czech Republic,which consists of 15 parts.The translator selects the first three parts(Fundamental Provisions,Public Higher Education Institutions and Their Constituent Parts,Private Higher Education Institutions)as the object of this translation report,taking into account the basic provisions of higher education as well as the general rules for public and private higher education institutions of the Czech Republic.This report is composed of five chapters:The first chapter gives a brief account of the background,significance and structure of the report;The second chapter describes the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the difficulties encountered in translation and proofreading and revision after translation;the third chapter explains the translation theory(i.e.text typology theory)which the translator has adopted to guide her practice;the fourth chapter is the case study,enumerating the translation means applied under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory;the fifth chapter summarizes the experience gained in translation practice and the problems awaiting further research. |
