As we all know,vocabulary is the cornerstone of language.It is the most basic part of learning a language.However,vocabulary learning has always been one of the difficulties in primary school English teaching and learning.To help students learn and memorize words effectively,reduce students’ learning burden,and improve the efficiency and quality of classroom teaching is an important subject of primary school English teaching research.On the basis of consulting relevant literature and understanding the current situation of primary school English vocabulary teaching,this paper attempts to apply mind mapping to practical English vocabulary teaching,study the possible problems in the application of this method,and find some solutions to help students build a complete and effective knowledge network,so as to improve students’ learning ability and learning efficiency.The research object was 30 students from Nanbu central primary school,Guanshan township,Yong Jing county.This study adopts the method of action research.The whole research process includes two rounds of action research,which lasts for one semester.Each round of action research follows the steps of "asking questions","formulating research plans","implementing research plans" and "reflecting and evaluating".Research instruments such as classroom observation,questionnaire survey,interview,teaching log and test were used to study the role of mind mapping in vocabulary teaching and find out the problems in its application.In the first round of action research,teachers focused on designing English vocabulary map in line with the cognitive habits of fifth-grade students in primary school,and exploring ways to use mind map to promote students’ effective learning and memory of vocabulary.In this paper,the second round of action research is the adjustment and improvement of the first round of action research plan,with the focus on the application of mind mapping training vocabulary learning strategies.The two research questions in this paper are as follows:1.What is the effect of application mind mapping on primary school English vocabulary classroom teaching?2.How does the application of mind mapping promote students’ effective learning and memory of vocabulary?Through the research,it is found that mind mapping can promote primary school students’ memory of English vocabulary,cultivate their imagination,stimulate their interest in vocabulary learning,and cultivate their spirit of teamwork.Teacher can review before class,teach new lessons,consolidate and review after class,and introduce mind map in the whole unit review stage to promote primary school students’ memory of vocabulary.However,due to the limitation of experimental time,the lack of teaching experience of researcher and some uncontrollable factors of the subjects themselves,there are still some deficiencies in this experiment,whichwhich need to be further improved in the future. |
