| Death rite is an important method that help bring dead people into the other world of society,which is filled with dead people.So,death rites are social rites.During this fieldwork,i focused on the death rites of a village named Bailukeng.After describing the funeral passages,the processes of building a grave,secondary burial,the magic power of ancestors and people’s sacrifices to the ancestors,i try to know better about how people in Bailukeng village give ancestors a full moral personality.In Bailukeng village,dead people can be an ancestor by pass the funeral passages or secondary burial.Secondary burial makes the dead live in a house,which is also the last rite help a ghost to be an ancestor.Living in the grave means dead people have their houses in the world of the dead,they try to settle down in this world by possessing the land.Ancestors use their magic power to protect family members.The family members of dead people obey the etiquette rules,they should hold memorial ceremonies in some moments during a year.They try to respect the ancestors and imagine the personalities of the ancestors.It is the morality of society that drives the living to hold ceremonies to member and honor their ancestors.In a word,this article try to figure out how the imaginary ancestors make an influence to the living so that i can clarify the social position of ancestors. |
