An Analysis Of The Schema And The Spatial Concept Of The Bensheng Story Of The Northern Dynasty Of The Mogao Grottoes In Dunhuang

Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes are the representatives of many art forms,such as Buddha statues,murals and so on,which contain the great wisdom of ancient craftsmen.Space,which has been explored by many philosophers since ancient times,has achieved achievements in this field from the perspective of philosophy and aesthetics.From the beginning of human civilization,human beings distinguish the universe,identify the direction,and have a preliminary concept of space.The murals of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang create the picture space by arranging the location of different elements within a fixed place,which brings different visual feelings to visitors.This is the expression about space in the context of specific culture and times,and also reflects the consciousness of space exploration in the field of early painting.As an important part of Mogao Grottoes,the Bensheng story mural is a special expression form of Buddhist propaganda,and also the embodiment of the important spiritual culture of the Chinese civilization.Schema refers to the classification of images with similar features according to their individual characteristics on the basis of the different positions of each element in the painting.The Bensheng story spreads in the Northern Dynasty with its inherent narrative attributes.Therefore,this paper studies the formation of its schema and analyzes its characteristics according to the different contents of the painting,and explores the relationship between schema features and space processing,as well as the effect of this painting,so as to reveal the spatial concept behind the painting and emphasize the visual experience brought to viewers.Based on the above discussion,this paper starts from the Ben Sheng story mural of Northern Dynasty,and makes the schema classification according to the different effect of murals with the same theme.In this paper,the author analyzes the processing of image space and the concept of space represented in the murals,and studies the factors affecting the murals.Finally,this paper returns to the picture itself,and sums up the composition form and the viewing way of Bensheng story paintings in the Northern Dynasty.
