Gender stereotypes refer to the assumption of individual differences in gender roles, due to the assumptions and beliefs of partial immobilization, simplification, and categorization, one of the contents of gender stereotypes.People tend to think that men are more aggressive than women, and women are more dependent than men.Based on this gender stereotype, previous studies have focused on adult stereotypes of adult males and females and children for adults. In this study,Chinese adult college students were taken as the subjects, and the face was used as the starting stimulus to verify the adult's gender-based aggressive stereotypes in the Chinese culture. It was explored whether this stereotype would extend to male adolescents.Study 1 consisted of two experiments,Experiment 1 and Experiment 2.The purpose of the study was to verify whether adult subjects had an aggressive stereotype of adult males.Experiments 1 and 2 found that the interaction between the starting face gender(male and female)and the target stimulus(rice shovel/cup and pistol)was significant, and the adult female responded faster to the rice shovel and cup after starting the face, but the adult male started The reaction of the opponent's gun after the face is shorter.Study 2 consisted of three experiments: Experiment 3,Experiment4,and Experiment 5.The purpose of the study was to explore the specific age at which adults' aggressive stereotypes of men extended.Experiment 3 used a14-year-old child's face as the starting face.It was found that the interaction between the starting face gender(male and female)and the target stimulation(rice shovel and pistol)was still significant, and the 14-year-old woman responded faster to the rice shovel after starting the face. However, the 14-year-old male's reaction to the gun was shorter after the face was activated.Experiment 4 used a 12-year-old child's face as the starting face.It was found that the interaction between the starting face gender(male and female)and the target stimulation(rice shovel and pistol)was still significant, and the 12-year-old woman responded to the rice shovel after starting the face.Fast, but the 12-year-old male reacts faster when the opponent's face is activated.Experiment 5,when starting with a 10-year-old child's face, found that the interaction between the starting face gender(male and female)and the target stimulus(riceshovel and pistol)was no longer significant, indicating that gender stereotypes were not activated.Based on the above results, this study found that adult subjects have an aggressive stereotype of adult males.Adult subjects still have aggressive stereotypes for 14-year-old and 12-year-old male children, but will not hold 10-year-old male children.Aggressive stereotypes.
