With the development of economy and society,the quality education has gained popular support in China.Since student-based education is put forward,it has received great attention.The core of the student-based education is that everything is for students.It emphasizes that education should focus on the development of life and build a harmonious and relaxing classroom environment,which can stimulate students' subjectivity to a large extent,so that students can grow up happily.Therefore,it is of greatly practical significance and development need to use case analysis to study English reading teaching in high school from the perspective of student-based education.Reading,as an important part in high school English teaching,combines basic English skills such as listening,speaking,reading and writing,thus making it a criterion for measuring learners' comprehensive English learning ability.Meanwhile,it is the main task of English teaching and plays a decisive role in high school English learning.With the promotion of the new curriculum reform,the student-based teaching concept has gradually gained the attention of high school English teachers.However,in order to pursue grades,most teachers still use traditional teaching mode that teachers are dominant and students accept passively in the current high school English reading classes.The traditional teaching methods are backward,which is not conductive to the development of students' reading ability.This thesis is based on the theory of student-based classroom and combined with the author's five-month internship experience in Liaodongwan Experimental High School.It analyzes English reading classes by using case analysis,classroom observation and interview.The following two questions are put forward.(1)What are the problems in the high schools' English reading class from the perspective of student-based education?(2)What effective methods can be taken to improve English reading teaching in high school based on the theory of student-based education?The case analysis of the classroom shows that there is a lack of students' main body status,classroom participation awareness of students is weak,the polarization in the classroom activities is serious,the students' background knowledge of culture is deficient,and the teaching evaluation is simplex.Based on these problems,the relevant suggestions are put forward from the perspective of student-based education.Teachers' and students' roles should be shifted.Teachers should cultivate students' interest and create environment for them.Cooperative group should be established.Teachers should encourage students to know more about the cultural background knowledge.Theoretically,this thesis is expected to enrich the theories which are related to student-based classroom and class teaching;practically,it is expected to arouse the attention of teachers and provide some references and suggestions forteachers,promoting the implementation of new curriculum reform.
