A Study On Adapting Chinese Textbook To MPR Version And MPR Teaching

This article tries to introduce a new type of multimodality textbook,MPR publication,for teaching Chinese as a second language.It suggests a new concept for editing textbooks and as well a new type of teaching via multimedia textbooks and tools.The article firstly analyses the efficiency of multimedia in teaching and the significance of multimedia textbooks.Then,after describing the status quo of the usage of multimedia textbooks and analyzing the reason why multimedia textbooks are not fully used currently,the article introduces a new type of multimedia textbook,MPR publication,which is now popular in the publishing industry of China.Recommending the advantage and distinguishing feature of MPR textbook and telling the purpose of the research,the author chose “Ti Yan Han Yu”,a widely used textbook for teaching Chinese in Thailand and adapted is to an MPR version.The details and defects of the adaption are recorded,and some more ideas for better adaption are given.After the adaption,an experiment was conducted to verify the efficiency of MPR textbook in Thailand.The article describes the experiment and suggests the researchers of textbooks in the field creating more MPR textbooks of abundant multimedia contents.Meanwhile,the teachers of teaching Chinese as a second language had better try and find more teaching methods using MPR textbooks and tools.
