| The congratulations of Mei Jing House on Ye Gongchuo's sixty birthday-“Birthday Celebration Album” is the one of the most representative birthday greeting paintings in the late Republic of China.The “Birthday Celebration Album”has a very important academic value.However,the study of “Birthday Celebration Album” still needs to be further studied by current academic circles and this thesis takes this as a breakthrough point into discussion.There are three parts involved in this thesis.The first chapter mainly refers to the introduction of eight works in “Birthday Celebration Album” as well as the author,which contributes to the macro understanding of “Birthday Celebration Album”.On the basis of understanding the background of the whole traditional culture and birthday celebrations,this thesis gives a detailed explanation of the image elements of each piece of work in “Birthday Celebration Album” and reveals the implied meaning of birthday celebration,which is mainly concentrated in the second chapter.The third chapter mainly analyzes the relationship between the teachers and students in Mei Jing House.Besides,it also examines the association of Wu Hufan and Ye Gongchuo.Afterwards,this chapter launches a discussion from the concept of collecting calligraphy and painting,poetry singing,association activities,calligraphy collection as well as painting and calligraphy business.By using the method of iconography,etc,this thesis takes the “Birthday Celebration Album” as the center to study the tradition of birthday celebrating calligraphy and painting,which helps to reveal the implied meaning of the birthday celebration in some important objects.At the same time,taking Wu Hufan's and Ye Gongchuo's association as an example for the rest of the lot to follow so as to pry into the associations among scholars in the Republic of China.Finally,this study will provide some ideas and inspirations on the study of birthday celebrating for future study. |
