Self-control learning(SCL)is an ability that students adjust themselves to keep fixated on their current learning and fulfill academic goals.Students’ inhibitory control ability is tightly related to their study during their daily learning activity and could directly influence their academic achievement.However,few studies refered to the cognitive aspect of SCL.Moreover,the relation between students’ inhibitory control and SCL still remains to be discussed.We revised the College Student Self-control Learning Scale developed by Danjie Zou(2005)as a measure of SCL.We used the Go/Nogo task and Stroop paradigm to investigate the relationship of college students’ inhibitory control and self-control learning.Last,we measured the concurrent electroencephalogram activity using Go/Nogo task and Stroop task among high SCL group and low SCL group.Results showed that:1.The structure of SCL contains sense of self control,self control tendency and self control strategy and the scale processes good reliability and validity,thus can be used to evaluate self-control learning level of undergraduates.2.SCL of college students is correlated with behavioral performance of inhibitory control:(1)In Go/Nogo experiment,accuracy of Nogo items is negatively correlated with SCL total score and its second-order factors.Sense of self control could predict behavior effect of inhibitory control.(2)In Stroop expriment,there’s also a negative between reaction time of incongruent condition and SCL total score,score of second-order factors.Sense of self control could predict reaction time of incongruent condition and self control strategy could predict reaction time of congruent condition in Stroop experiment.3.In the study of different SCL groups,result showed group difference in the aspect of behavioral performance and also neural response:(1)Higher SCL group had a higher accuracy under theNogo condition and a shorter reaction time in Stroop task than that of lower SCL group.(2)In the ERP part,the amplitude of P2 component evoked by Nogo trials was significantly higherer in higher SCL group,which indicate that they may showed group difference in earlier visual processing and attention.Also,there’s group difference in amplitude of P3 component which high SCL group posess stronger brain response to accomplish response control.(3)And in the Stroop experiment,higher SCL level subjects showed stronger P2 and N2 component which may play a role in stimulus rating and monitor of stimulus conflict.Also,the difference of N450 amplitude between the two groups revealed that high SCL individuals are more sensitive in monitoring and sovling response conflicts.In conclusion,SCL is a stable psychological structure.The scale after revision has good validity and reliability,and can be a relyable tool to test SCL.SCL is tightly related to inhibitory control in the aspect of behavior and cognitive neuroscience.And inhibitory control may be a monitoring system in the SCL model during learing.
