The peony culture in Hezhou is not only the traditional culture that shared between Hui and Han,but also the localization of Islamic art.The prosperity of the peony culture is miniature as a result of a strong interaction between Hui and Han.It also shows the mutual communication and integration of Islamic culture and Chinese traditional culture.They inherit the secular definition of the peony,while recreating texts of the peony to express the world that they understand.Field work is the practical basis of the paper.There are two parts to illustrate that are visual arts and literature arts.By using theoretical methods of art anthropology and symbolic anthropology,the paper studies the culture that is established in the field of cultural interaction.The paper is consisted of six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,making clear the account of topic origin,literature review,theoretical framework and methods.The second chapter is field work profiles that discuss by three relationships as follows: Hezhou and Hui,Hezhou and the peony,Hui and the peony.The third chapter is consisted of brick carving,calligraphy,wood carving and drawing to illustrate visual arts of the peony culture of Hui in Hezhou.The forth chapter analyzes the literature arts of the peony culture by understanding the text of Hua'er.The fifth chapter concludes the features of the peony culture of Hui and focus on the shared culture between Hui and Han.Finally it demonstrates the peony culture of Hui is the manifestation of cultural inter-embed.The conclusion is reviewing the artistic forms of the peony culture of Hui.It is the result of the localization of Islamic art and the interaction between Hui and Han in little tradition.
