As the main inheritor of the Royal blood, the clan children are not only an important member of the Northern Song Dynasty, but also an important part of the upper ruling group of the Northern Song Dynasty.Because of the special political and social status of the clan's children, they played a dual role in consolidating and threatening the imperial power,so the emperor attached great importance to them.In order to prevent the imperial power from being threatened by the clan children in the Northern Song Dynasty, strict political and social restrictions were imposed on them. However,as members of the clan of the emperor representing the authority of the Royal family, the clan children also had to maintain their noble social status. Therefore, they were generous and gracious economically, attached importance to the cultural education of the clan children, made them know their shame, loyalty, filial piety and friendship, and their marriage choice was extremely special. Therefore,in such a special living environment, although the children of the imperial clan in the Northern Song Dynasty could not participate in politics to realize their ambitions, most of them did not spend their time and energy in cultural life.Although they could not fulfill the Confucian wish of "governing the country and making the world peaceful",they were trying to achieve self-cultivation and family harmony and improve their cultural and moral accomplishments. In the cultural life, the clan children of the Northern Song Dynasty paid attention to the cultivation of their own culture and art, such as like reading, poetry, diligent in calligraphy, painting fine rhythm and so on to edify sentiment, enrich their own life. They are also actively involved in the collection of books, books, book viewing, teaching and other cultural activities. In the Northern Song Dynasty, the self-cultivation of the sons and daughters of the imperial clan mainly focused on the following four aspects: young willingness to learn and study diligently, loyalty to the monarch, patriotism and diligence, courtesy, generosity and self-restraint,thrift and benevolence.Influenced by the Confucian concept of "governing the country first, governing the family first,self-cultivation",in addition to self-cultivation,the children of the imperial clan in the Northern Song Dynasty also attached great importance to "Qi family".In family life, its main responsibility is to clean up the internal relations of the family, preach and teach by example, and educate the descendants. In order to rectify family relations,we should pay attention to the relationship with parents, brothers and husbands, filial piety to parents, friends and brothers, and respect for wives. In educating children,we should use many ways, such as poetry, legacy to educate them on moral character and cultural knowledge, such as loyalty, filial piety, thrift, benevolence and so on.Apart from the above contents, the life and disease of the sons of the imperial clan in the Northern Song Dynasty are also an important part of their life.In the Northern Song Dynasty, most of the children in the imperial clan were non longevity people whose life expectancy was far below the average life expectancy of the Song Dynasty. The main factor that affects its life span is disease.Generally speaking, the policies of the Northern Song Dynasty on the imperial clan were reflected in the lives of the children of the imperial clan, and the actions and activities of the Chinese side of their lives counteracted the practical effects of the relevant policies. In their lives, they are mainly concentrated in four aspects: cultural life,self-cultivation,family life, life and healthy life.In these aspects, they reflect the domestication effect of the Northern Song Dynasty's children's inner restraint and active acceptance management, and play an important role in the stability of the imperial power in the northern Song Dynasty.
