Creative Strategy and the Business of Design, written by Douglas Davis, contains 15 chapters which mainly talk about how to use strategies in creative design to achieve expected goals.Based on the translation of chapters 5 to 8,the translator conducts systematic analyses and gives comprehensive summary for this translation practiceThis practice report consists of five chapters. The first charter briefly introduces the background, the source text and the significance of this translation practice. The second chapter mainly describes the preparation that the translator has made before translating, such as selection of translation auxiliary tools, preparation for proper nouns and analysis of parallel texts. The third chapter presents the whole translation process which has been divided into three stages:analysis, transformation and reconstruction according to Eugene Nida's point of view. After finishing the translation, the translator carefully proofreads and polishes the target text. The forth chapter is case analysis, which is the most important part in the whole report. The translator first introduces the concept of communicative translation, then summarizes some representative difficulties in the translation process.Under the guidance of communicative translation, the translator analyzes lexical translation from the aspects of part-of-speech conversion, addition and omission, and semantic selection;presents the syntactical translation from passive sentence, formal subject sentence and complex sentence;introduces the textual translation from the perspective of cohesion and coherence. In this way,the translator tries to realize the "equivalence"between target text and source text to maximize extent. The last chapter is the final conclusion of the gains and limitations in the translation practice.
