English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School(2017)clearly states that senior high school teachers need lay emphasis on cultivating students' communicative ability in English. Many research findings have shown that it is important to learn about learners' English communicative ability through their willingness to communicate in English. However, there are few relevant domestic researches on senior high school students' willingness to communicate in English inside the classroom. This thesis chooses senior high school students as the research subjects and tries to investigate the present conditions of their communication in English inside the classroom, which can be helpful for them to enhance their willingness to communicate in English and improve their English communicative level. This research is composed of three phases.Firstly, the author formulates the questionnaire on high school students' willingness to communicate in English, including two parts. The first part is on the investigation of the current conditions of high school students' willingness to communicate in English from the perspective of students' oral English level, teachers' classroom teaching, the content of textbook;the second part is about the survey on factors which can influence students' willingness to communicate in English, such as individual characteristics and context.Secondly,236 questionnaires are given out bythe author from Mid-October to November in 2018,and then,224 valid questionnaires are returned.Base on the analysis of these valid questionnaires, the author designs the interview questions to find out some reasons of students' unwillingness to communicate in English inside the classroom.Thirdly, from Mid-November to December in 2018,six senior high school students are randomly chosen to take part in the interview. The author transcribes their interview contents and makes the relevant analysis.According to the results from the first part of questionnaires,it is clear that the majority of senior high school students are unwilling to communicate in English inside the classroom and English teachers seldom arrange oral class in process of English classroom teaching.Combing the results from the second part of questionnaires with the interview results, the author finds that senior high school students' willingness to communicate in English inside the classroom are influenced by individual characteristics and context. The former refers to personal psychological factors, while the latter involves contextual factors.
