In recent years, language learning strategies have been a hot topic in second language acquisition, and effective learning strategies can improve students' English learning capabilities.Besides, affective factors in second language acquisition have also been paid much attention by researchers.English self-efficacy,one of the important part of affective factors, plays an important role in developing students' English performance. Therefore, exploring the correlation between the use of language learning strategies and English self-efficacy is beneficial to make suggestions for the future English teaching. After reviewing the related studies abroad and at home, the author investigates 265 Grade One students from Jingshan Fifth High School in Hubei Province using two questionnaires, one is about English self-efficacy,and the other is about language learning strategies. The questionnaire of English self-efficacy is divided into three dimensions: sense of self-confidence for goal, sense of course-competence and sense of course dealing. The questionnaire of language learning strategies includes six dimensions: memory strategies, cognitive strategies, compensation strategies,meta-cognitive strategies, affective strategies and social strategies. This study tries to answer the following questions:(1)What is the general situation of English self-efficacy among Grade One students in senior high school?(2)What is the general situation of the use of language learning strategies among Grade One students in senior high school?(3)Is there a correlation between English self-efficacy and the use of language learning strategies? If there is,what is it ?The statistics demonstrate that:(1)Grade One students have a high English self-efficacy level. Both students' sense of self-confidence for goal and sense of course dealing have a high level, and students' sense of course-competence is at a medium level.(2)Grade One students employ language learning strategies at a medium level.Among the six learning strategies, compensation strategies and meta-cognitive strategies have high use frequency. The other four strategies, from top to bottom, cognitive strategies, affective strategies, social strategies and memory strategies are at a medium level.(3)English self-efficacy has a positive correlation with the use of language learning strategies. The following groups have closest correlation between English self-efficacy and the use of language learning strategies: sense of self-confidence for goal and meta-cognitive strategies, sense of course competence and meta-cognitive,cognitive strategies, sense of course dealing and meta-cognitive,cognitive strategies.Based on the research results in this study, the author offers some suggestions to develop students' English self-efficacy and raise language learning strategies' use frequency respectively, and also lists some limitations and gives some advice about future researches.
