A Study On Huang Sheng’s Ci And His Theories Of Ci

Huang Sheng,a native of the middle and later Southern Song Dynasty,who is the author of Anthology of Hua An and Ci of San Hua An.Anthology of Hua An is the first anthology with commentary in China,which is of great value in the history of Ci.In the middle and later period of Southern Song Dynasty,Ci presented various features in styles and themes.The theories in this period were characterized by elegance.Summaries and analyses of Ci were popular and a large number of anthologies appeared.This paper sorted out the version of Ci of San Hua An and confirmed the numbers of Ci of San Hua An.Based on this,This paper discussed the two different shapes of Huang Sheng himself by his works: "man wandering in spring and stone" and "affectionate,sad,sick".His works showed the peaceful and carefree life and chase for the hermit culture.This paper analyzed Huang Sheng’s description of scenes and characters being characterized by specificity and delicacy and explained the special aesthetic feeling of his extensive use of overlapping characters,as well as his ability to create a desolate artistic conception under the influence of Jiang Kui.Anthology of Hua An was arranged by time order and characters.It chose large numbers of works and collect works of different identities,trying to keep luxuriousness.His theory of "keeping the Ci’s history" was recognised by later generations extensively to provide reference.Anthology of Hua An chose the works both elegance and vulgarity and never judge the work by its author.Huang Sheng’s comments focused on different styles of Ci and Ci of San Hua An has various themes and styles,all of which presented Huang Sheng’s compatible viewpoint that help us understand the different styles of works in that era.He selected a separate volume of the work of poetess,which plays an essential role in the evolution of poetess’ s history.Huang Sheng’s consciousness of respecting Ci was reflected in three aspects:1.Collecting his own works to the Anthology.2.Putting title to Ci.3.Collection with comments.This showed that Ci poems are constantly being poetized.His exploration of life of authors and background recording of Ci poems were also influenced by poems,which has enhanced the status of Ci.This kind of theory brought influences on later generations,such as Zhou Mi’s Excellent Poems and Zhang Huiyan’s Collections.Huang Sheng’s comments were widely quoted in later generations too and the art of future generations,especially art in the Qing Dynasty,were often took Anthology of Hua An as reference.
