Modiano’s Trauma Writing In Souvenirs Dormants

The "trauma" of the mind is a long-standing phenomenon in the development of human spiritual civilization.The advancement of science and technology,the accelerated pace of life and the improvement of living conditions have made modern people’s lives flourish and manifest unprecedented prosperity.However,under the turbulent social development wave,There are still a large part of people who feel that they are marginalized.They have a deep feeling of powerlessness and insecurity,living in a silent collapse,with a hidden wound in their heart.In the work of the French writer Modiano,The mental state of ordinary people is an important material.The author often uses a gray tone to note the fleeting encounters of people in the past years,and their unpredictable fate.In Souvenirs dormants published in 2017,The writer has more systematically reflected on the living conditions of these mysterious and unfortunate little people.The present work will analyse the traumatic witing of Modiano and the self-healing methods embodied in this book from the perspective of psychoanalysis.By applying Jung’s "inconscient supra-individuel" theory and the concept of "retour eternel" that Modiano himself used,the first chapter of this present work summarizes the core plot of the narrative fragments of Souvenirs dorJmants,and analyzes the reason of the"trauma" reflected by this plot.The second chapter uses Modiano’s reference to the onirologue Hervey de Saint-Denys’s theory of "diriger les reves" the novel,focuses on the healing mechanism of "dreaming writing" in Souvenirs dormants.This mechanism reflects the writer’s positive desire to heal himself and make himself stronger.The third chapter focuses on the changes of Modianos writing in Souvenirs dormants.Unlike the desperate atmosphere and suicide endings in his early works such as Voyage de noces and Dans le cafe de la jeunesse perdue,Souvenirs dormants expresses a "possibility of recovery".The purpose of this present work is to capture the implied happiness behind the trauma of the mind through the analysis of the traumatic writing of Modiano.
