This paper is composed of three parts: the original text of A Realistic(Holistic)Approach to Climate Mitigation, its Chinese version and the translation report. The essential topic of the source text is climate change, with in-depth analysis of sustainable climate mitigation.By comparing to the inadequacies of Paris Agreement, the author of the source text proposes the possibility of providing a realist and holistic alternative approach to current climate mitigation.Based on her understanding of the academic value of the text, the translator aims to produce a Chinese version that is of some significance to the study of climate mitigation in China. And by choosing this source text for translation practice, she hopes to gain more experience of translating informative texts. The translation report introduces the source of the original text and the motivations of the translator before it analyzes both the linguistic characteristics and the text type of the source text. Then examples are cited to illustrate how the translator realizes the dynamic equivalence between the source text and the target one by resorting to Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory. To be specific, functional equivalence at the lexical, syntactic and stylistic levels are achieved through the employment of such translation skills as integrating word meanings, using four-character expressions, adding explanatory expressions, converting word classes, conveying emotional meanings and adjusting word orders.Reflections on this translation practice are also provided.
