Another Kind Of View:Narrative Research On Unconventional Viewpoint

The image narrative embodies the various forms of narrative art in human history.Nowadays,the progress of shooting technology has made new possibilities for the diversified narrative of the lens viewpoint.Among them,the extensive use of motion camera GoPro and drone aerial photography in image narratives provides technical support and creative basis for the “ first viewpoint” and “god viewpoint” image narratives.Although "First Viewpoint" and "God's Viewpoint" are routinely used in a large number of video works,the use of only one "unconventional viewpoint" narration in the whole work is an unconventional application.The "unconventional viewpoint" in this paper It is the discussion based on this meaning.Therefore,the "unconventional viewpoint" is an experimental exploration of the unconventional use of "POV viewpoint" and "God's viewpoint" for the entire work.This thesis is based on two stand points.First,using for references of unconventional viewpoint's three theories,including The Concept of Narrative Technique in The Theory of View written by B Molysite,The Theory of Angle of View authored by Friedrich Nietzsche and The Theory of The Narrative of Film Stories by David Bodewell in film narration,and focus on subjective viewpoint and god viewpoint combined with present film research.Second,drawing lessons from narrative theories in subjective viewpoint and god viewpoint researches,then the thesis will explain unconventional viewpoint in creative short films based on the two points above.Two author's experimental short films Control and I will be given as examples to start the study,and other several films using same shooting method will also be referred during the study.The thesis will start telling the story in two independent viewpoints,which are subjective viewpoint and god viewpoint,telling the story at two different timing and combine the two independent viewpoint,then make a statement of the choosing,creating and expressing of the two viewpoints above with an unconventional point of view.Analysing the subjective point of view and god viewpoint,the establishment of a variety of elements in the scene view the scheduling,film expression and visual language,these two elements have a direct view of subjective point of view,indirect subjective point of view and overlooking viewpoint.Summing up the confrontation between the first point of view and "the view of God",the subjective point of view and the god's viewpoint are balanced.This thesis tries to explore the creative techniques of the unconventional viewpoint experimental film and its application in creative and experimental images.
