The narrative of Catch 22 has obvious spatial characteristics.For the two carriers:time or space,Catch 22 prefer to the latter.The narrative modes that Catch 22 presents achieve the effect of constructing space.Scatter perspective divides the plot of Madder’death,Snowden’s death and the escape of Aull into different visual threshold,Causing the plot to develop in the form of suspension or leapfrogging;repetition makes so much important fragment appear many times,these repetition is the obstacle of linear narrative,the repetition of Catch 22 include “catch22”,Danica’s complaints,Yosemite’s nudity;topic-juxtaposition narrative makes the plots that have the same core combination transversally,death,sex,money,fantastic,are all the core of Catch 22.Scatter perspective,repetition,topic-juxtaposition narrative appear arbitrarily,the narrative time of the novel becomes to disorder and stop because of that,so it makes the narrative of Catch 22 spatialization.Death is not only the object of scatter perspective,but also the content that repetition.It is the core why so many plots could be juxtaposed.So that death occupies a high proportion in the text,the atmosphere of the novel becomes so horrible.Space narrative sets the tone of terror for this book,emphasizes the threat for human existence,it provides the basis for the psychological changes of people,especially to Aull and Yossarian,Aull and Yossarian have changed their action because of that.
