Music and calligraphy,being as two different forms of art,have deep cultural origins under the nourishment and infiltration of Chinese culture.This paper analyzes the similarities between music and calligraphy that starting from the perspective of Chinese traditional aesthetic "Qiyun",which is the most important criterion of aesthetic appreciation of Chinese art.In the process of writing,the author explores the rhythm of aesthetic characteristics from the similarities between music and calligraphy with literature research,interdisciplinary research method,exploratory research method,comparative analysis method and other methods.This paper can be divided into four parts.Firstly,starting from the historical origin of music and calligraphy,this paper explores the cultural origin of music and calligraphy,and then comprehensively analyzes the similarities between the two in terms of artistic form and artistic content.Secondly,from the perspective of their aesthetic similarities,this paper introduces the two categories of "Qi" and "Yun" in Chinese classical aesthetics,and demonstrates similarities of the two arts in "Qi" and "Yun" through analysis.Thirdly,the paper analyzes the harmonious as well as balance of “Qiyun” in artistic works.Lastly,it analyzes the similarities of this two forms of art with specific art works from the aspects of music singing and playing(Guzheng playing as an example)as well as calligraphy appreciation and creation.In the process of the research,the authors applies relevant knowledge involving music aesthetics,calligraphy aesthetics,history,humanities,traditional Chinese aesthetics and etc.,with the methods of literature analysis,theoretical exploration and practical research,and finally concludes her own opinion.On the one hand,it enables the author to learn and sort out the "charm" in traditional Chinese aesthetics more comprehensively.On the other hand,it deepens the author's understanding of music and calligraphy,and lays a solid theoretical foundation for future art creation exhibitions.
