The Study On MeiDingzuo's The Stories Of Talent Ghosts In Ming Dynasty

The Stories of the Talent Ghosts is a classical collections written by the well-respected writer and dramatist Mei Dingzuo in the mid and late period Ming Dynasty.It was written in the twenty-three years of Wanli and was published in the thirty-three years of Wanli.The book is classified according to the order of the dynasty,and it selects the the talent ghosts' stories from the classic works of all ages,and to make a book for the talent ghosts.Ever Since it's publication,The Stories of the Talnet Ghosts has not received extensive attention from the academia,and there are few researches on it,because of the Si Ku Quan Shu of Qing Dynasty has complete denied The Stories of the Talent Ghosts and coupled with some shortcomings of the work itself.However,The Stories of the Talent Ghosts as a work which specially writes for talented ghosts,Mei Dingzuo expressed his indignant feeling by excusing talent ghosts and compiled the The Stories of the Talent Ghosts in a rigorous academic attitude.Whether in ideological or in codification,The Stories of the Talent Ghosts have unique positions and values in Chinese ghost novels.In view of this,this paper takes a detailed interpretation of the text as a foothold.In addition to the introduction,it systematically and comprehensively analyzes The Stories of the Talent Ghosts from the following five parts.The first part is based on the document recorded and the modern research,analyzing the background of The Stories of the Talent Ghosts from three aspects: the background of mind school in Ming Dynasty,the cultural background and the author's personal compiling motive.The second part sorts and interprets the The Stories of the Talent Ghosts by perusing the texts,which are mainly divided into human and ghosts recite poems and discuss history,the words of the immortals at their superstitious activitie,the love story betweenhuman and ghosts,vengeance and revenge,the words of ghosts come true.The third part is deeply analyses ideological connotation of The Stories of the Talent Ghosts.Under the special times when the mind school flourished,Mei Dingzuo has a heretical thought that deviates from the feudal ethics.Therefore,he expresses his affirmation of true feelings and human desires through talent ghosts' stories,and contains ideological connotations such as criticizing social reality and reflecting Buddhist and Taoist karma.The fourth part analyses the characteristics of the ghosts images in the original fiction,the role of the combination of poetry and literary works,the structure of the story plot,and there-creation of the novel from the perspective of the artistic characteristics,thus,appreciates the artistic quality of the talent ghosts.The fifth part analyses the values and limitations of The Stories of the Talent Ghosts.Mei Dingzuo compiled this book with strict academic attitude and unique perspective,so it has certain value in textual research and literature.In addition,we can't ignore the shortcomings of this book.For example,some of the fiction's main themes are unknown,and the chosen ghost stories are not all able to use “talent” to describe,some of articles to rewrite the artistic value is not high,etc.so we should look at the status of this book in the history of Chinese fiction with an objective attitude.
