As one of the important children's clothing categories,child bib vividly shows the folk costume art in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.Since the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,child bib has not only been diverse in style,but also varied in color,and it has rich patterns and exquisite craftsmanship.It has important research value in the inheritance of costume culture.Exquisite embroidery and chic patterns show not only people's yearning for beauty,but also a sincere prayer for the continuation of life.It is the representative of female needlecraft art and the symbol of maternal love.A strong desire for happiness,well-being and prosperous grandchildren gave the beautiful vision of life to the costume,and then created costume customs,gradually formed a profound national costume culture of the Chinese nation.This paper conducts an in-depth research on the definition,origin and development of bibs,horizontally contrasting the contemporaneous period,and excavating the historical and cultural background behind the bib.In addition,the analysis of the physical objects at the Costume Museum of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology,from the structural and color to the pattern and crafts,for further study of the external structural art and the internal folk culture.
