Hubei is the birthplace of Chu culture.Since the founding of the country, thousands of Chu tombs have been excavated in Hubei. With the increase of tomb materials, the political, economic, cultural, philosophical, and artistic aspects of Chu have been concerned by scholars. The Jingmen area is one of the most concentrated areas of Hubei Chu Tombs.A large number of pottery artifacts were unearthed, which provided for the study of pottery in this area, verification of archaeological typology, analysis of different levels of pottery excavated pottery and implementation of cultural relics protection programs.A rare physical material. In this thesis, the pottery excavated from the Chu Tomb in the Huangfumiao area of Jingmen,Hubei Province was selected as the research object.Water absorption, firing temperature, lithofacies structure, carcass main elements, pottery tablets, using various modern scientific methods such as polarized light microscopy, thermal dilatometer analysis,EDXRF,Raman spectroscopy, and GC-MS.The pigment and cement components were tested, and the results were analyzed scientifically and effectively using multivariate statistics and other analytical methods. Finally, relevant information about the craftsmanship of the Warring States pottery unearthed from Chu Tomb in Huangfumiao area was obtained. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The water absorption rate and the apparent porosity of the Warring States pottery unearthed in the Chu Tomb of Huangfumiao area are basically proportional. The water absorption rate of muddy gray pottery and muddy gray yellow pottery is not much different, concentrated between 18.30-20.58%,mechanical strength. It is weak and loose.(2)The Warring States pottery unearthed from the Chu Tomb in the Huangfumiao area was dark and shaded under the polarizing microscope. The clays are silty clays composed of minerals such as quartz, feldspar and a small amount of mica.Part of the sample sludge is distributed in a strip shape and elongated and oriented, which reflects the processing method of the blank forming during the production. Most of the clay pottery crumbs are silt grade, the particle size is less than 0.1mm,the overall difference between muddy gray pottery and muddy gray pottery is small, the muddy ratio is slightly different, and the muddy gray pottery is roughly 10-20.Between the %,the muddy gray pottery is between 20-30.From the part of the sand-filled pottery sample,it can be seen that the artificial sand is added artificially, and the particle size is between 0.1 and 0.6 mm.(3)The firing temperature of the Warring States pottery unearthed in the Chu Tomb of Huangfumiao area is not much different, both lower than 1000 °C,roughly between 870-985 °C,and the burning temperature of the clay pottery is slightly lower than that of the clay pottery.(4)The Warring States pottery unearthed from the Chu Tomb in the Huangfumiao area basically belongs to the nearby soil.Only the No.18 tomb pottery may change the composition due to the change of the foreign soil, the ingredients,or the change of the firing point.(5)The painted pottery of the Warring States in the Huangfumiao area was black, white, black and yellow. The black pigment was made of carbon black, the red pigment was cinnabar, the yellow pigment was chosen for earthy yellow, and the white pigment was some kind of Sn-containing mineral..The pigment cement was tested as animal glue.
