The Commedia dell'Arte originated in Italy in the 15th century.Its various styles of performance and light humor were quickly welcomed by European royal families and the public.It spread rapidly from Venice to the whole Europe and had a profound impact on the European theatre.It has been nearly five hundred years since the birth of the Commedia dell'Arte,which began to flourish in Europe in the middle ages and began to decline in the mid-1 8th century.During this process,what kind of reform and transformation did it go through,how did it spread from Italy to European countries and even the whole world and what development happened in terms of modern transformation and foreign communication of the Commedia dell'Arte,which are main problems that this paper studies.This paper,using participatory observation method,clears up what was recorded from the workshop in the Central Drama Academy of China in Beijing by Valeria Campo who is a famous director of the Commedia dell'Arte and introduces the origin and artistic characteristics of the Commedia dell'Arte.Based on 5W communication model of Harold Lasswell,mass communication theory and interpersonal communication theory and using method of literature research and case analysis,this paper also traces and analyzes the process of the modern transformation and foreign communication of the Commedia del'Arte.In the end,combining with the situation of the modern transformation and foreign communication of the Beijing Opera,this also puts forward some suggestion and thoughts.The first chapter of this paper mainly introduces the Commedia dell'Arte from several aspects including its origin and development,script,performance,stage design and its influence on world drama.The first section of the second chapter introduces the reform of the Commedia dell'Arte by Carlo Goldoni and Carlo Gozzi in the industrial revolution of Europe in the middle ages.The second section expounds the revival of the Commedia dell'Arte by Luigi Pirandello and Dario Fo and the transformation of it in the 20th century.The first section of the third chapter introduces the spread of the Commedia dell'Arte in Europe in the middle age.The second section analyzes the modern external spread of the Commedia dell'Arte based on the "5W" communication model of Harold Lasswell.The fourth chapter,the conclusion part,combined with the background of Italy's participation in the "One Belt And One Road" initiative,briefly describes the transformation and spread of the Beijing Opera,and puts forward and analyzes the question that whether the transformation and external spread of the Beijing Opera and the Commedia dell'Arte have a certain significance of reference.
