This is a report on English-Chinese translation of the first, third and fourth chapters of Women Who Don't Wait in Line:Break the Mold,Lead the Way written by Reshma Saujani, the founder of the non-profit organization"Girls Who Code".Reshma Saujani, with her own and successful women's stories, inspires women to break through, take risks, face failures, and blaze trails. The writer of this report hopes that the translation of this book will inspire readers, especially young women.while sharing translation experience in the report. In terms of the content, the book is not only the expression of Reshma Saujani's thoughts and emotions, but also the presentation of facts with a view to calling on the readers to act.According to Peter Newmark's text typology, the book combines the characteristics of expressive, informative and vocative texts, with salient vocative feature,so in translating this book, translators should take into account the delivery of information and expression effects of the original. In addition, various terminologies and idioms and figures of speech such as antithesis and parallelism in the original text require both faithfulness to the content and structure of the original and emphasis on the effect of the translation. Therefore, the writer chooses to follow Peter Newmark's theory about Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation to deal with the difficult problems in translation, including terminologies, idioms, passive sentences, and figures of speech.Based on Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation, the writer seeks to preserve the semantic and syntactic structures of the original while adapting to the target readers',cognition and expression,to produce a high-quality translation by dynamically adopting translation skills such as literal translation, free translation and literal translation with annotation. This translation experience encourages the writer to pursue her own dreams and become versatile to meet the demands of social development.
