A Study On The Interpretation Of Word Meaning In FangYanJianShu

Qian Yi's FangYanJianShu is one of the representatives works about the Xiaoxue in the Qing Dynasty,and it is also the most detailed one in the FangYan.At present,the research on it mainly focuses on the three aspects of "paronym","sound for meaning" and "examination of collusion",but there is still no systematic research results in the interpretation of word meaning.This paper takes the interpretation of the meaning of the words in FangYanJianShu as the object of study,and analyzes the style,methods and types of the interpretation of the words meaning by using the methods of mutual proof of form,sound and meaning,inductive analysis and literature research,and explores its value in the study of exegesis and lexicology.The specific content is divided into five parts:Chapter one: Introduction.This part mainly puts forward the reasons for choosing this topic,summarizes the previous studies on FangYanJianShu,summarizes the research contents and the main research methods used in this paper.Chapter two: The Style of FangYanJianShu.Including the arrangement of the whole book and the interpretation of specific terms.The arrangement of the whole book is completely in accordance with the layout of the book FangYan,which is divided into 13 volumes.The order of the words in each volume is also in full accordance with the FangYan.The method of interpretation of the entry includes the object of the interpretation and the form of the interpretation.There are two main types of subjects: 1.Words in FangYan and Guo Zhu;2.Words related to the words in FangYan and Guo Zhu.In terms of the form of interpretation,according to the existence or absence of interpretation terms as a symbol,it is divided into two categories: directly invoking ancient precepts for interpretation and using interpretation terms for interpretation.The terminology of the interpretation mainly includes: “Yue,Wei,Weizhi,Zhiwei,Zhiwei,”“Wei,Yan” and so on.Chapter three: The method of the explanation of the word meaning in FangYanJianShu.Sorting and analyzing the methods of Qian Yi's derivation of word meaning in FangYanJianShu,which are summarized into six methods: seeking meaning from form,sound,analogy literature,ancient dictionary,mutual confirmation of internal elements and the overall meaning of words,and interpretation based on ancient and modern dialects.Sorting out and analyzing Qian Yi's interpretation of word meaning.The method can be summarized into four explanatory modes: Zhixun,Yijie,Miaoshu and Pikuang.Chapter four: Types of Word Interpretation in FangYanJianShu.The meaning of the words is analyzed from the perspective of single words and word meanings.The meanings of the single words explained in FangYanJianShu include two categories: conceptual meaning and etymological meaning.The conceptual meanings include the three meanings of the original meaning,the extended meaning and Jiajie meaning,while extended meanings include similar extended meanings,Xiangguan extended meanings,Xiangyin extended meanings and opposite extended meanings;The word meaning aggregation of the FangYanJianShu includes the aggregation of the same meaning,the homologous meaning,the homogeneous meaning and Shangxiawei meanings.Chapter five: The value and deficiency of the explanation of the meaning of the words in FangYanJianShu.The value of the interpretation of the meaning of the FangYanJianShu is mainly reflected in the following three aspects: 1.Comprehensive application of multiple methods of interpretation.2.Rich word meanings and interpretation materials.FangYanJianShu quoted 322 bibliographies,33 inscriptions on stone inscriptions,and 49 vocabulary evidences in ancient and modern dialects.3.It has important reference value for the compilation of later generations.In the HanYuDaZiDian(Second Edition),a total of 107 articles were quoted in the dialect.4.The study of the vocabulary of the other party has certain reference value.In addition to interpreting the dialect vocabulary in the book FangYan,FangYanJianShu also lists 49 dialect vocabularies in the Qing Dynasty.Its shortcomings are mainly embodied in the use of explanatory terms,explanatory methods and explanatory conclusions.This paper makes a comprehensive and systematic study of the lexical exegesis of FangYanJianShu from the perspectives of exegetical style,methods,types of exegetical meanings,values and shortcomings.It has certain reference significance for the study of lexicology,exegetics,dialectology and dictionary compilation.
