In English teaching,vocabulary has always been in an important position.Although teachers have realized the important role of vocabulary in the process of English teaching,the effect of vocabulary teaching has not been satisfactory.Although students learn a lot of vocabulary in the classroom,there are still a lot of mistakes in practical use.Based on the above various reasons,this paper proposes a method of using cognitive context to teach English vocabulary,explore its feasibility in practical teaching,and study whether it has a positive impact on students' vocabulary scores.This research starts from the perspective of empirical research,attempts and verifies the cognitive context-based teaching method in junior high school English vocabulary teaching,and proposes relevant suggestions for the use of the teaching method.The purpose is to solve four problems in this study: How the overall situation of English vocabulary learning for junior high school students is;How to apply cognitive context in junior high school English vocabulary teaching;Whether this teaching method can improve students' interest and cognition in learning vocabulary;Whether the cognitive context be applied to junior high school English vocabulary teaching can improve students' English vocabulary scores.Firstly,the questionnaire survey method is used to understand the students' current situation of English vocabulary learning and the students' understanding of cognitive context.Secondly,the students in the experimental class started an 18-week teaching experiment,using cognitive context to teach vocabulary,using statistical analysis software SPSS to analyze and compare the pre-test results of the experimental class,verifying the application of cognitive context.Whether the English vocabulary teaching in junior high school can improve students' English vocabulary scores.Finally,after the experiment,8 students from the experimental class were selected according to the post-test vocabulary scores to understand the students' satisfaction with the application of cognitive context in vocabulary teaching,and to verify whether the vocabulary teaching method in cognitive context can improve students' interest in vocabulary learning.The research results of this study prove that the application of cognitive context is effective in the teaching of English vocabulary in junior high school.It can fully stimulate students' interest in learning English vocabulary,so that students can master the usage of vocabulary well.Using the vocabulary they have learned will ultimately achieve the goal of improving students' English vocabulary scores.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions on the application of cognitive context to junior high school English vocabulary teaching,and also points out some shortcomings of this research and prospects for further research in the future.
